Have you tried IFTTT, Michael? I've set up temperature rules in Twine, to email when rising or falling through degrees 62-78. IFTTT could drop the subject line and body of the email into a text file in Dropbox or into a Google spreadsheet.
Of course, IFTTT is the answer to a lot of queries here that should also be considered for feature requests. I would rather the Twine had the ability to log temperatures on a timed basis than have to write 32 rules to have a third party manage the work. (That said, it wasn't that onerous a process.)
