how about a script to determine if a twine is on and working?

I'm setting up one as a remote temperature alarm in a condo. if the temp drops below 40 I want to know about it so I can get the management folks involved.

I'd like a script that I can run periodically form my home machine that "pings" the twine to see when its last update was so I can discover if 

1. the power is out

2. someone has stolen the unit

3. something weird is going on.

any suggestions ?

Check out this thread..  For now, seems like you could do this.  While it won't allow you to directly talk to the twine,   if the twine isn't talking to the service it should disappear from the site.   This way you could automate checking the data.  (If the device IS still on twines website, but hasn't checked in, that data should be there too)

"Last Report"  and '"Hasn't been heard from" would be good data points to scrape.

There's a JSON array that shows the last update time.  If it's older than X, then you have an issue as twine is not communicating.

Problem is there's no easy way to get that without some programming kungfu.
