Almost sounds like the firmware update to increase the functions (some, like vibration were advertised originally) turns it into a non-functional object.
A nifty rubber green colored object, but still non-functional....

You will not be the last. I don't know how the Twine folk got a questionable lot of batteries, but they did. They really should consider posting on their setup page to buy new ones if any sort of issues occur out of the box.
They would have to make it user settable, not automatic. Otherwise they'ed be sending out alerts to all the Twines that are deliberately off (i.e. owners removing batteries, etc.).

I had exactly the same symptoms, and went through the same solutions.
Finally tried changing the batteries to new, fresh ones. Problem was solved.

Actually....(and I'm not admitting anything here.....) with enough, ah, force and lubricant, there _is_ one other way it will go on with the holes aligning up.
My solution, after frogging around for an hour or so (and getting 1/2 way through the setup guide, and light's blinking indicating no connection) I replaced the batteries.

Did you install the batteries that came with the package? If so, toss them and start with a new set. The bad battery issue messed up a number of users.

Thanks, I'm current. Is it just me (probably...) or is there a way to link back to the access page that I'm just missing. A link up at the top of the discussion board would be handy.

Good comment. Probably the staff could answer. I was looking at the simplicity of the 9v connector setup and making a case for it, maybe with some sort of step down circuitry built in. For a long term (one month+) in place alarm.
I've noti…

I posted somewhere earlier that I had problems first setting up that I traced to the batteries that were shipped with Twine. Replaced them and no problem.

How far do you get in the initial setup? And is your (or your neighbors) router sending an SSID?
One thought.... Try shutting down any encryption you have running for a short time, and see if Twine can observe your router.

First thing I can suggest Jeff, is to use fresh batteries. The 3A's in my delivery were not strong enough. Once I replaced them, my laptop could see Twine.
I had suggested in the hardware forum of optionally providing a 9volt to USB connection; either a short cable between the typical 9 volt battery with the male USB at the end, or perhaps a plastic shell you would insert the battery into, with the USB…

I had the same issue, i.e. low factory batteries. Took a good hour or two to diag the problem. Have you tried inserting the batteries and flipping it over or just inserting the batt's w/out flipping?
The response time from Twine HQ seems t…

How about a hard shell or sleeve design that's somewhat cut down in the front face (say almost down to the battery compartment) with one or two screw holes on the back. Countersunk and hard shell for easy removal for battery replacement. Eas…
No sticker on mine. However, if you "own" your AP, log in to your router's admin section under wireless clients. There should be a screen showing a list of clients name, MAC, etc. Look for the client labeled TWINE and a six digit number (serial#?), …
